Junior Hazmat Technician Port Elizabeth Eastern Cape Affirmative Action (South African Citizens need only apply)

Introduction
Our client a giant in the Petrochemical industry based in Port Elizabeth would like to employ a Junior Hazmat Technician to work had-in-hand with the Hazmat Technician. The incumbent needs to respond, clean up hazardous chemical incidents and execute and plan small and large projects.

Minimum Requirements
• Grade 12.
• Hazmat operations/ Technicians
• Qualified fire fighter
• First Aid Level 2.
• Dangerous goods training with PRDP
• Qualified fire fighter with 3 -5 years fire fighting experience
• 3-5 Years experience as a paramedic
• Experience with hazardous materials handling
• Experience with confined space entry
• Legal Supervisory Appointments

KNOWLEDGE
• Hazardous Materials Handling
• Confined Space Entry
• Proper use of PPE
• Documentation – billing documentation, project report and completion certificate

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Supervise response to national and international incidents
• Getting staff and equipment to incidents timeously
• Evaluating the incident
• Liaison with customer
• Making recommendations to customers regarding
• Clean up activities and cost
• Securing work.
• Implementation of plan.
• Supervision of work to completion.
• Facilitation of departmental sign off and site closure with DWA and DEA
• Facilitate a monthly internal Hazmat SHERQ audit.
• Planned operations
• Visit customer
• Evaluating work
• Compile quotation
• Planning the job in terms of resources and infrastructure
• Implementation of plan
• Sales and customer care function
• Assist in technical input for tenders and quotes.
• Do site inspections and visits.
• General Administration
• Generate weekly reports on pipelines and projects
• Ensure responders and staff has accurately completed their documentation.
• Compiling risk assessment and documentation required to perform duties.
• Coordination of distributors
• Facilitate the emergency response.
• Assist to arrange labour, equipment and vehicles for large incidents or projects
• Maintenance of Equipment
• Check list of vehicles
• Trucks / pumps etc. are in a clean operational working order
• House keeping
• Ensure that all waste is stored and disposed of correctly.
• Ensure that all work is carried out in line with company policies and procedures (Safety, Health, Quality, Environmental and operational)
• Ensure daily site diaries are completed and updated
